West Ham suffered their fifth consecutive home defeat as Brentford triumphed 2-0 at the London Stadium. This marks the first time since 1931 that the Hammers have lost five straight home games. Despite a managerial change from Graham Potter to Nuno Espirito Santo, the team continues to struggle for cohesion and confidence.
Brentford dominated the match, with Igor Thiago opening the scoring in the 43rd minute. The forward found the net after Brentford's 15th attempt in the first half, and Mathias Jensen sealed the victory with a second goal in stoppage time. Brentford could have extended their lead further, but Thiago hit the post, and one of his goals was disallowed for a marginal offside. The impressive Kevin Schade also struck the woodwork.
West Ham managed only 0.33 expected goals, the fourth-lowest for a home team this season, and registered just one shot on target. This is a worrying sign for the team, which is second from bottom with only four points.
Analysis: West Ham is in a severe crisis that remains unresolved even after the managerial change. The lack of creativity and efficiency in front of goal puts the team in serious danger of relegation unless they can turn their fortunes around soon.
