Millwall climbed to third place in the Championship after securing a 2-0 victory over Stoke City, with goals from Femi Azeez and Tristan Crama. Azeez netted his third goal in as many matches, while French defender Crama scored his first for the club. This marked a third consecutive win for the Lions and a particularly sweet triumph for their manager Alex Neil against his former club.
The match kicked off with both teams launching rapid attacks. Stoke's goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson, pulled off a spectacular double save, while at the other end, Millwall's Max Crocombe denied a header from Robert Bozenik. Despite Stoke arriving in London on a four-match unbeaten run and boasting the league's best defense, they were breached as early as the 10th minute. Ballo delivered a cross from the left, allowing Azeez to capitalize and score into an open net.
Just ten minutes later, Millwall doubled their lead. Ballo once again provided the assist, this time for Crama, who struck with a powerful shot. Despite numerous injuries this season, Millwall continues to rise in the standings. However, they were forced to make a change when Will Smallbone suffered an injury and had to leave the field.
In the second half, Millwall had further opportunities to extend their lead, but Stoke managed to avoid a heavier defeat. Ultimately, Millwall settled for their two goals and deservedly claimed the victory.
Millwall is showcasing solid performances and is steadily establishing itself as a contender for promotion to the Premier League. The team's consistency and tactical discipline have been crucial to their success this season.
