Liam Millar celebrated his first start in over a year by scoring for Hull City in a tense 2-1 victory over Leicester in the Championship. The Canadian international, recently back from a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury, was instrumental in the team's second goal, scored by Joe Gelhardt in the 31st minute. Although substitute Aaron Ramsey pulled one back for Leicester in the 67th minute, it wasn't enough, and the team dropped out of the playoff spots following their first defeat in nine matches. Millar's return helped mitigate the absence of Oli McBurnie, who missed the game due to injury and a suspension for manager Sergei Jakirovic.

Millar, who previously netted his only goal for the "Tigers" in a 3-1 win over QPR on October 1, 2024, was outstanding in the first half. Just five minutes in, his cross created a dangerous chance in front of Leicester's goal, but goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk managed to save it. Gelhardt opened the scoring after a swift attack and a cross that Millar finished with an impressive strike. Hull doubled their lead following an intelligent pass from Millar to Ryan Giles, who assisted Gelhardt for his second goal.

Leicester, struggling to get back into the game, made several substitutions at halftime, but their efforts fell short, despite Ramsey scoring an impressive goal. Despite late pressure, including a Harry Winks shot hitting the post, Leicester couldn't find an equalizer.

Analysis: Liam Millar's return breathed new life into Hull City, demonstrating how crucial he can be in their playoff push. Leicester will need to regroup quickly to stay in the promotion race.
