The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers are underway, with several teams, including reigning champions Argentina, already securing their spots. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, featuring 48 nations—16 more than the previous edition in Qatar 2022. The host nations qualify automatically, while other teams from UEFA, CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, AFC, OFC, and CAF are competing for their places. UEFA has 16 guaranteed spots, with 12 going to group winners and the rest decided through playoffs. The World Cup draw is set for December 5 in Washington, with U.S. President Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino overseeing the event. The opening match will be in Mexico City, and the final at MetLife Stadium in New York.
