Rangers are actively searching for a new manager following Russell Martin's dismissal, with talks underway with several candidates. Discussions with former manager Steven Gerrard have progressed significantly in recent days. Gerrard, who left Rangers four years ago for Aston Villa, is open to returning to Glasgow and may bring Gary McAllister and possibly former Rangers striker Jermain Defoe with him, while consulting with former England coach Steve Holland.

Former Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl is also a strong candidate, having impressed the Rangers board. The club, led by chairman Andrew Cavenagh and vice-chairman Parag Marathe, is conducting meetings in London with various candidates, alongside sporting director Kevin Thelwell and CEO Patrick Stewart.

Rangers are determined to find the right successor after Martin's 123-day tenure ended with the team in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership. Gerrard has expressed a desire to return to coaching, citing "unfinished business" in his career and describing Rangers as the perfect team for him.
