Rangers' chairman Andrew Kavana has defended the club's search for a new head coach following the official unveiling of Danny Röhl on Tuesday. The American businessman confirmed that Röhl had indeed withdrawn his candidacy at one point while the club was considering five candidates simultaneously. Kavana also stood by CEO Patrick Stewart and sporting director Kevin Thelwell, acknowledging that mistakes were made by them, as well as by himself and vice-chairman Parag Marathe. He added that the current squad is incomplete, lacking experience and resilience, and that further investment is anticipated before the January transfer window.

Kavana emphasized that the process of selecting a new coach was smooth and well-organized, despite external perceptions to the contrary. He stated that they interviewed several excellent candidates and ultimately chose the right person in Danny Röhl. Röhl signed a two-and-a-half-year contract after initially withdrawing from the process but was convinced to remain in contact with the club.

When asked about Rangers' prospects in the league, Kavana expressed optimism, stating that although they are in a challenging position, everything is still possible. He also reaffirmed his support for Stewart and Thelwell, highlighting the importance of taking responsibility for mistakes and improving performance.

Regarding future investments, Kavana mentioned that they would discuss the squad's needs with Röhl in the coming months and make additional investments in the club in January if necessary.
