Leah Williamson, Lauren James, and Lauren Hemp will miss England's women's national team friendlies in October due to injuries. However, Lucy Bronze returns to the squad after recovering from a leg fracture sustained during the Euro 2025 final. Chelsea's Niamh Charles and Manchester City's Grace Clinton are also included in the 25-player roster, which features 20 members from the Euro 2025 winning team.
Arsenal defenders Katie Reid and Taylor Hinds receive their first national team call-ups, with Hinds having previously played for Jamaica. Lucia Kendall debuts, while Aston Villa's Missy Bo Kearns returns. England will face Brazil on October 25 at Manchester's Etihad Stadium and Australia at Derby's Pride Park the following Tuesday, marking their first matches since their Euro 2025 triumph in Switzerland.
Coach Sarina Wiegman expressed excitement about integrating young talents like Reid and Hinds into the team. She emphasized the importance of these friendlies for experimenting with players and tactics in preparation for the 2027 World Cup qualifiers. England will also play friendlies against China and Ghana later this year, with the World Cup qualifying draw set for December.
